You might have noticed that I’ve not posted anything new for almost a month. The primary reason for this is that this is my busiest season at work and I simply didn’t have time. I also just wanted a bit of a break. I’ve gotten to the point now that I have tons of things that I want to blog about so it’s off to the races we go!

One of my many weaknesses is a liking for all things beer. My penchant for beer started a number of years ago when I went to visit my sister near Stevens Point, Wisconsin. It was there, while on a tour of Point Brewery, that I discovered that beer could actually have…dare I say it…FLAVOR!!! Up to this point I had been forced to consume only the bland offerings of the mega-breweries. From that day on I became a fan of imports and microbrews. I’ll still drink an occasional Miller or Pabst if it’s offered to me. Remember, free beer is good beer.

On occasion, I’d like to start offering reviews of some of the beers that I like or, conversely, don’t like. I’m not a stuck up, pinky in the air kind of guy, so my reviews will pretty much be just a “hey, try this brew out” kind of thing. With that in mind I’ll offer up my first featured brew: Monty Python’s Holy Grail Ale. My wife bought me a six pack of this when she was away for a weekend with a friend (what better way to a mans heart than to buy him beer?). Holy Grail Ale is brewed by Black Sheep Brewery in the UK. It’s part of Eurobrews and was introduced in 1999 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Monty Python. My wife and I both love Monty Python so this ale was a natural for us to try. I found HGA to be exceptionally smooth. Unlike many ales, it’s fairly light on the hops so it’s a easy to drink if you prefer lighter beers. HGA is fairly uncomplicated. I’d echo what other reviews have said and just say that it’s a very relaxing beer. Recommended.

I’m not sure just how readily available HGA is, however, I’ll bet it can be found at most larger liquor stores.

Thanks to my Aunt Jacquie for sending me the following:

My first job was working in an Orange Juice factory, but I got canned.. Couldn’t concentrate.

Then I worked in the woods as a Lumberjack, but just couldn’t hack it, so they gave me the axe.

After that, I tried being a Tailor, but wasn’t suited for it mainly
because it was a sew-sew job.

Next, I tried working in a Muffler Factory, but that was too exhausting.

Then, tried being a Chef – figured it would add a little spice to my life, but just didn’t have the thyme.

Next, I attempted being a Deli Worker, but any way I sliced it…
couldn’t cut the mustard.

My best job was a Musician, but eventually found I wasn’t noteworthy.

I studied a long time to become a Doctor, but didn’t have any patience.

Next, was a job in a Shoe Factory. Tried hard but just didn’t fit in.

I became a Professional Fisherman, but discovered I couldn’t live on my net income.

Managed to get a good job working for a Pool Maintenance Company, but the work was just too draining.

So then I got a job in a Workout Center, but they said I wasn’t fit for the job.

After many years of trying to find steady work, I finally got a job as a Historian – until I realized there was no future in it.

My last job was working in Starbucks, but had to quit because it was the same old grind.

SO, I TRIED Retirement AND FOUND I’M PERFECT FOR THE JOB!

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive another ‘Economic
Stimulus’ payment.

This is indeed a very exciting program, and I’ll explain it by
using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an ‘Economic Stimulus’ payment ?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?
A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn’t that stimulating the economy of China ?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. economy by
spending your stimulus check wisely:

If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka .

If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.

If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or China .

If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico , Honduras and Guatemala ..

If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea ..

If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

Spending it at yard sales, or

Going to ball games, or

Spending it on prostitutes, or

Beer or

Tattoos.

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the U.S. )

Conclusion:

Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard
sale and drink beer all day !

No need to thank me, I’m just glad I could be of help.

(Thanks to Brian Hurley for forwarding this to me!)

First off…once again, I apologize for my lack of posts lately. Hey, it’s summer and I’ve been goofing off a bunch. Well, I guess I’ve been goofing off if you consider landscaping my backyard with 22 tons of rock, 3 tons of flagstone, 8 yards of gravel, 12 yards of dirt and 13 yards of mulch, all in the blazing heat and high humidity goofing off!! Anyway, things will get back to normal soon.

I have found a few cool things lately and the following is one of them. This video was created by a group of 6 guys that spent 14 days traveling across America in a motorhome. It’s a combination of stop motion and time lapse photography and it shows a guy seamingly walking across the country. I almost didn’t watch this one because I thought it might be too boring, however, it’s quite cool. Do yourself a favor and watch it in HD fullscreen if your connection will allow. After watching it you can check out the “making of” video HERE.

He puts the crocodile up on the bar and turns to the astonished patrons: “I’ll make you a deal. I’ll open this crocodile’s mouth and place my manhood inside. Then the croc will close his mouth for one minute. Then he’ll open his mouth and I’ll remove my unit unscathed. In return for witnessing this spectacle, each of you will buy me a drink.”

The crowd murmured their approval. The man stood up on the bar, dropped his trousers, and placed his credentials and related parts in the crocodile’s open mouth. The croc closed his mouth as the crowd gasped. After a minute,
the man grabbed a beer bottle and smacked the crocodile really, really hard on the top of its head. The croc opened his mouth and the man removed his genitals unscathed as promised.

The crowd cheered, and the first of his free drinks were delivered.

The man stood up again and made another offer. ‘I’ll pay anyone $100 who’s willing to give it a try.’

A hush fell over the crowd. After a while, a hand went up in the back of the bar. A blond woman timidly spoke up: “I’ll try it, just don’t hit me so hard with the beer bottle!”
